On February 3, 2026, Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) reaches a milestone few numismatic institutions can claim. Forty years after opening its doors, PCGS stands as the longest-operating international third-party grading and encapsulation firm in numismatics.
Founded in 1986 and officially launching operations on February 3 of that year, PCGS helped establish a framework for authentication, grading consistency, and market confidence that continues to shape the modern coin hobby.
To mark its 40th anniversary, PCGS plans a year-long celebration. The company is releasing a 40th Anniversary Special Label, along with anniversary-themed boxes, branded merchandise, and promotional giveaways. PCGS has also announced special submission offers and exclusive promotions for PCGS Collectors Club members.
The limited-edition coin label is an ode to their early label design before the introduction of their standard blue vignette label. This label is available through the PCGS standard special label program for $7 while supplies last.
